Anne-Marie - Do It Right
Use of Camera
Throughout the music video of Anne-Marie's 'Do it right', there are a range of tracking in and out shots. These shots specifically help to add focus and attention to Anne Marie whilst she is singing along to the song. She is the main focus point of the video so this will also help to promote her personal image and be recognised more when people watch the video. Other camera shots/angles and movements include high angle shots, aerial shots and hand held camera shots. Aerial shots are performed using a remote control drone. This makes the video a lot more interesting as it adds a variety of shots that could not be achieved before.
Use of Editing
The editing within the video helps to compliment the song itself. Slow motion is added at some stages to slow the pace of the video down when the song slows down as well. This will then pick up again as the song gets more up beat. Fades in and out are also used to introduce the start and end or the video. Montage editing is also used in the video to help show how the song is having an impact on the video as it speeds up.
Use of Mise-en-scene
Within the video we see how the artist Anne-Marie is singing along to the song throughout. However, she is most likely using her own actors skill of lip syncing to portray that she is singing. A lot of the locations that are seen within the video always have an essence of colour and brightness. This helps to attract people to the video. It also reflects the type of genre it is related to which is 'pop'.

Use of Camera
Close ups and mid shots are used very regularly within this music video as it appears to be trying to capture a lot of emotion throughout. Extreme close ups are used as well to emphasise the emotion but are not used as frequently. Other ways the camera is used include Panning, tracking and high/low angle shots. These help to produce a wide range or shots to attract the viewers attention.
Use of Editing
Editing isn't used as much in this video compared to 'Do it right' but it still is used. During the video however, it is rewinded to show previous events which is the most obvious use of editing. It also fast forwarded which is featured throughout. Fades in and out also introduce the start and end of the video.
Use of Mise-en-scene
The actors help to portray emotions of love and hate through their acting. The video only shows younger people as well which may represent a certain stage in a young persons life. Lighting is also used when emotions are being portrayed to help target and focus on specific points that may play a key role in seeing emotions.
Rihanna - Needed Me
Use of Camera
Rihanna's video of 'Needed Me' is filled with a variety of camera shots/angles and movements. These include:
- Establishing Shots
- Mid-shots
- Close-ups
- Long shots
- Tracking Shots
- Focus Pull
- Low angle
- High angle
- Panning
- Tracking
- Arc
Use of Editing
Editing is used within the video by montage editing, enhanced sounds, transitions and short snappy shots. This makes the video very interesting and will ensure you watch till the end. I did notice that pretty much the whole video was played in slow motion however which was different to all of the other videos I have looked at. This did make the video seem a lot more relaxed but still had plenty of action throughout.
Use of Mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene is a massive part of this video and the director clearly had a huge production budget as the locations and props that featured throughout looked seriously expensive. For example, there are Lamborghinis and motorbikes in the video which instantly make it a very high price. Not only this but the locations Rihanna is at on her own look very exotic and would cost a lot of money. The money doesn't stop there however within the mise-en-scene. Rihanna's outfits all look very expensive and made by designer labels which means they wouldn't of came cheap at all. As Rihanna is dressed up a lot as well, it makes all the other women within the video who aren't dressed as well as her seem like they are more lower class compared to Rihanna. This again highlights how she is the main focus within the video.
