Planning : Casting

Casting is a very important part of the pre-production phase as it gives you the opportunity to find and identify the very best actors and actresses for the roles you are looking for. You will need to make sure that your actors/actresses are capable of performing the way you want and also have the right look for what you are looking for. This means the mies-en-scene is a factor that needs to be looked into a lot for this part of the pre-production stage.

Georgia Mcalwane
Age: 17

Georgia is a good candidate to take part within my music video as she is confident in front of the camera and will be able to lip sync the words easily as well as she also has an interest within my chosen band as well. She is a 17 year old girl who attends my sixth form so she will be available to help me when filming at many different occasions and is easy to contact. Georgia will appear throughout the video at different times, appearing in black and white with a black background. Within these segments, she will be lip-syncing the song. Georgia will be able to wear whatever is required as well as she has an extensive wardrobe collection which means she will be able to wear what is needed form the costume planning stage.

Ellie Markie
Age: 22

Similar to Georgia, Ellie is a confident person and is very eager to make an appearance within my video. Due to her living very close to me she will be available to do some filming at anytime. She will also be lip-syncing the song a long with Georgia during different parts of the video, with a black and white effect over the top of her. Ellie has been involved with music videos in the past due to her friends taking Media studies so she is already familiar with some things that need to be taken care of and how things are run when filming. She is also a fun and bubbly person who will not have any problems with singing in-front of a camera. Ellie will also be able to pull of an indie look within the video due to the range of clothes that she has to offer and has various ways of wearing these clothes.

Samuel Nix
Age: 17

Samuel Nix is a young man who has previously been filmed for Media studies, but is quite camera shy and prefers to be at the other end of the camera, doing the filming himself. Sam often gets quite self-conscious whilst in-front of the camera and always needs to make sure his hair looks good throughout. He also has a habit of looking at the camera unintentionally whilst filming so it would be preferable to use someone else as the male part of the video.

Scott Pugh
Age: 16

Much like Sam, Scott is very camera shy and will not be a suitable person to take part within the filming process. He is shy enough at school with friends so in-front of a camera, there will be little hope of getting much emotion or confident/comfortable acting from him. Though he has the right look, it will still be preferable to look for someone else to fill this role.

 Edward Pearce
 Age: 18

Image may contain: 1 person, beard, closeup and indoorI would like to think that i am a confident person in front of a camera where I can comfortably act and follow a range of different actions that will help portray the male character within my video. Due to myself being 18 as well, I am right in the middle of the target audience for my chosen genre but also I am very fond of this type of music as well which could help me during filming as I could represent the lyrics a lot more. Down to the fact that I like this genre of music also means that I have clothes which are related to this genre as well so this will benefit the mise-en-scene within the video and also will relate to the outfit that has been chosen during the costuming planning.

Rebekah Short
Age: 18

Rebekah is a good choice for the music video as she isn't shy in front of a camera and can act natural when it is needed. She is in the target audience age range so she will be someone who viewers can relate to. Rebekah is a massive indie fan as well as she likes bands such as The Kooks and Catfish and The Bottlemen so she knows how to act due to her seeing so many of there music videos as well.

Final Decision:
After going through all suitable actors/actresses, I have decided to use myself (Edward Pearce) and Rebekah Short to help create a meaningful music video that portrays a broken man who is feeling the hurt from a heart break.
